Reclaiming Pleasure: Purity Culture Recovery After High-Control Religion

This workshop is for you if you're seeking an affirming space to learn more about the psychological impact of the purity culture movement and the unique impact on those who have lived experience in high-control religious contexts emphasizing shame related to sex and pleasure.

This workshop will provide psychoeducation, group discussion, writing and reflection time, along with an introduction to strategies and practices to support healing from high-control messages about sex and pleasure for those who have left a high-control religion.

The group will integrate somatic tools to support grounding and embodiment and you’ll leave feeling more connected to yourself, others, and strategies to support your individual recovery process.

Participants will receive a digital workbook to support the meeting’s activities and continued reflection after the workshop.

Please note this is a workshop and not a therapy group. If interested in purity-culture group work, you can review current offerings here. Current support groups are available to residents of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.
